Abstract: High density storage racks (HDSRs) have been, and will continue to be installed in rerack campaigns to alleviate impending shortfall in spent fuel pool storage capacity at Kori-4 nuclear power plant in Korea and at other plants around the world. Truncation of sparger lines has become an effective strategy to increase storage capacity. Over a dozen spent fuel pools repacked in the past several years have removed their sparger lines to enable a high density layout and thus maximize pool capacity.
